Winners of the 2014 AAE Glass Contest Announced

Thank you to everyone who participated in this years contest. You had the judges pulling their hair out trying to narrow the winners down.  Thank you to our guest judges Patty GrayPaul Tarlow and Kristine Crawley, artist/educator for taking the time to pick their favorites and provide commentary, it really helped. The imagination and creativeness expressed through this contest was mind blowing!  So much time and detail went into each piece and the support from each other, for each other, on the new AAE Glass Jewelry page is so encouraging. Thank you.

A huge thank you goes out to Olympic Kilns who generously donated the grand prize of a New Vitrograph Kiln.  Olympic is the only kiln we use at AAE Glass.  Before you make a decision on purchasing a new kiln, be sure to contact Tanya Veit with any questions.  Olympic builds to suit your needs and when you buy from Tanya, you just might get a firing schedule or two from her!

Finally, we would like to share our sincere gratitude with everyone who donated their contest pieces to the David Alcala Memorial Fund, those who bid on items and those who spread the word of the memorial fund. Together, we were able to raise thousands of dollars for David's family.

David was a big part of the glass world and his techniques will live on through those he touched.  The fused glass industry has been on an upswing due in part to people like David Alcala, Patty Gray, Paul Tarlow and Tanya Veit.  It is such a good feeling to see what we can accomplish when faced with adversity.  We hope everyone had fun with the contest and we will be sure to run another in the future.
Thank you, Thank you, THANK YOU!

Sincerely,
The Veit Family
